A gaudy, gaudy Christmas

I occasionally get the urge to be crafty. This is usually unfortunate as my crafting skills are mediocre at best. The urge struck this week, and I headed to the local craft store wanting to make some jewelry. I didn’t see anything I wanted though until inspiration struck. I had been planning on getting a fresh Christmas wreath for our front door. The craft store had some items on sale that I thought I could use to decorate a wreath. Instead, I decided to make one; a gaudy one.

I have had a lifelong love for gaudy, tacky Christmas lights and decorations. If it hurts your eyes to look at it, I will probably love it. Blame it on my family driving around looking at Christmas lights every year, I guess. I really love the lights are that shade of blue that is hard to look at. Do you know what I’m talking about? When I first decided to make a wreath, my intentions were traditional, but then a glorious shade of blue caught my eyes, and it was over.

May I present to you my Gaudy, Gaudy Christmas wreath.

My gloriously gaudy wreath

I know this isn’t to everyone’s taste, and my crafting skills aren’t the best. I had fun making it, and it makes me smile.

Lights!!

For people that know me, this wreath shouldn’t be a surprise. I usually put up a hot pink tree that I decorate with Star Trek, Star Wars, and NASA ornaments. I’m not sure that I will do that this year. I did recently get a Norfolk pine, and I have picked up some LED Christmas lights to adorn it with.

Are you more traditional for Christmas, or do you have gaudy decorations that I would love to look at?
