What I’m Loving Lately: February 2018

I cannot believe that we are already over halfway through February. I don’t particularly enjoy the weather of February and March. They are too unpredictable and usually too windy for my taste. I don’t want to wish the year away, but I am ready for spring. I’ve got a lot going on right now. I recently started a part-time job on the weekends, I’m volunteering, I signed up for two online classes for recertification, and I might possibly have just committed to an additional online temporary job. All that on top of my full-time teaching job. Apparently, I want a little stress in my life. Oh well, six more weeks until spring…

Sticking to your New Year’s Resolutions

Sticking to New Year’s Resolutions is usually something that is very hard for people. We make lofty goals like “lose 20 pounds”, but we don’t make a plan for how we are going to get there. I believe that you need to pair goals with actions in order to be successful, and that is what I did back in December. Have I been completely successful? No. BUT I have reevaluated and changed my goals and action plans if needed. I’m not going to just give up. Goal #1 -Blog more My action plan was to maintain a list of possible blog topics and to write about them, and I have. …

What I’m Loving Lately: January 2018

The days here are cold and dreary. School just started back, and it feels like forever until spring break and warm days will make an appearance. January is a time for reflection and resetting. Here are some things I’m loving along those lines. My Oil Diffusers When I was a kid, I remember that my mom had some dried eucalyptus and I loved the smell of it. A couple of years ago I was sitting in my office at work when I caught a whiff of eucalyptus. The old memories came rushing back, and I went to find the source of the smell. It turned out to be someone working…

    My 2018 New Year’s Resolutions

I’m not one to make New Year’s resolutions. I think most of us know that they are usually an exercise in futility. However, this year I am making my 2018 Action Plan. I feel these are all realistic goals. Besides, If I don’t call them my New Year’s Resolutions, then perhaps I will follow through – right?   Blog More I started this blog off with about a post a week. I might be running at a post per month now.  I’m not going to set a number to meet, but I am going to take some time over winter break and generate a list of topics to write about.…

    Looking forward

The start of this school year has been rough. At the start of our teacher workdays, I fell down the stairs and sprained my finger. Do you know how hard it is to setup your classroom and type up various lesson plans and complete paperwork while wearing a splint? My finger is much better now, although there is still a weird knot on my knuckle. The students have been back for two weeks now, and my immune system seems to still be on summer break. I woke up last Friday with a sore throat, signaling my first cold of the year! In addition, what I thought was a minor skin…
